There are no shortage of birthday party invitations that make their way home in Miika’s backpack…at least one a month. Let’s see, a decent gift is about $15 + a $3 gift bag + a $2 card X approximately 10/year. $200! So, I’m trying to practice what I preach by making and helping Miika to make gifts. Here’s a special little box made from a cigar box ($2) and some vintage storybook pages, scraps of magazines, ribbon, paper samples, buttons and Modge Podge of course.
The aqua cabinets here were salvaged from the building that we manage. All the kitchens have been renovated and these were headed for the side of the street…perfect for fabric scraps and whatnot. They cost me $9.99 worth of paint.) A little left over paint went on the treasure box.
Oh, and inside the box? Miika’s surprise for her friend…a homemade jumprope and lots of “bits” from our workshop. I think every little girl loves to get a box of treasures!! We hope you like it Lily! We had lots of fun making this.
