Recently our adult Sunday school class had three weeks of discussions about Creationism vs. Evolution. It surprised me that our class was actually divided on the issue and a bit tense. I think everyone agreed that God indeed created everything and that humans have not evolved from apes, but the division came, in how long creation actually took and what has happened between then and now. Also the actual age of the earth was a great debate.
Well, since I’m not a scholar on the issue but instead the kind of person who has a simplistic faith, I’ve come up with my own conclusions… First of all, God’s Word is sacred and to be trusted. Secondly, from the perspective of a designer, I have always imagined God the Creator in His studio at a drawing table for millions of years planning each creature, plant and planet, then sculpting prototypes…that is, if you insert time into eternity…Anyway… I then think of those six day’s of creation as God’s debut, breathing life and light into a plan that He worked out in advance. I realize that we as humans are forced to understand God within the confines of our finite minds limited by time and space. Each person must fill in the blanks from his or her own perspective. So, as an artist, this is how I understand God. First you have an idea, then a plan, then you implement it. Simple.
I also figure that life is very short and that we’ll all discover the details soon enough…not going to worry about it now. For those who simply cannot believe in one Creator, I pity them, that they refuse to see the Creator in the creation. To me it’s very obvious. On a very simple level, how can a masterpiece make itself hang on a museum wall? There was a painter, a sculptor, an inventor who made it happen.
Liita:
This issue is a hot button of mine and so I am
glad to ‘steal’ your artistic metaphors as a means
of explanation. I especially liked the self generating self hung painted museum masterpiece. But to go a step farther, if humanity is to the evolutionist the picture, the universe is the museum!!
Огромное спасибо за потрясающие идеи!!! Буду следить за блогом, много всего интересного. А мой блог о науке, надеюсь, тоже понравится
