    Home >> Mr. President

    November 6, 2008

The split second that Barack Obama had clearly won the election, this city started to rock. We heard fireworks for about an hour. It was as if the King had arrived. I’m glad that I was not down in Grant Park because I don’t like crowds, but I must admit that it’s exciting to be near the heart of history in the making. Though I can’t agree with some of Barack Obama’s views, I’m thrilled to see what he has done for the spirit of Black Americans. May he continue to raise the bar and keep it high. Perhaps our ghetto will change for the better, perhaps heads will be held higher and hopes will soar. Maybe the darkness will lift and the slouched passersby with hats on backwards and pants dragging on the sidewalk will have a reason to tuck their shirts in and walk tall. President Elect Obama is such elegant role model who inspires people from every walk of life. It’s no wonder that we’ve just witnessed a landslide.

My hope is that Barack Obama will change too. There is so much truth that is ignored by our culture and I believe our country will not succeed unless eyes are opened and hearts are changed. I am praying for our new president that God would keep him safe, honest and open to the truth that sets men free.
