We’re excited about the future, but while we rush to the next chapter, life is like a treadmill on high speed. It’s times like this where I have to put a dream out in front of me in order to get through all the work that needs to be done. My dream? A cabin in the woods. The plan to go with it is….sell this house….get completely out of debt….sit on the little bit of equity that will be left after all that is done, save some money, then invest in a tiny, little, quiet place way up north somewhere. We certainly have enough furniture for it, we’ll need to escape once in a while, and Paul and I both LOVE the woods, the birds, the solitude, the peace. So, early in the morning before the kids get up, or late at night when all is quiet, I steal moments looking at magazines of decorated get-aways…can’t hurt to dream.

Meanwhile, the STUFF is flying out the front and back doors at rapid speed. The good folks who belong to the local freecycle group came to get 3 big pieces of furniture last week. The artwork that I put out there for free is almost all gone. It amazes me what people find to be interesting. There was an illustration in my stack of a compost pile that I did for an article in Chicagoland Gardening and an earth-mama who came by thought she had found a jewel! She was a self-proclaimed environmentalist. I put the box of art out on my front steps today and invited the freecyclers to come and mull through it. This afternoon when I came home, it was almost gone…even the little illustration of worms that live under some people’s kitchen sinks…those extreme folks who want to compost in the wintertime. Now for all the miscellaneous debris under my feet, piled on my desk, and filling drawers….argghhh.
