A friend recently introduced me to a yahoo group called, “Oak Park IL freecycle” where members post items that they want to get rid of and others post their wishes for what they need. At first I was overwhelmed by having my mailbox overflowing constantly, but now I’m starting to benefit. This week I was able to pick up 2 radiator covers for our house and I gave away 2 bookshelves that we won’t have room for. Someone else is going to come check out a sleeper sofa that we have not been able to sell at our garage sales and the Salvation Army won’t take because it has a slipcover. It just takes a little armchair time to go through the stuff on line and is well worth it. There are freecycle sites all over the country, so check in your area. In December we’ll need a bunk bed/loft. IKEA has one for $199 plus mattresses, but maybe I’ll score on the freecycle site….stay tuned!
