Home >> recycle, repurpose, reuse…re-bbon

Everybody has a pile of squished T-shirts in their drawers that never see the light of day. Well “git’em” out and start snippin’. Here’s what you do:
Find the shirts that don’t have seams on the sides
Cut off the bottom hem
Get a VERY sharp pair of scissors
Cut one continuous 1-inch spiral strip from the bottom of the shirt winding all the way up to the sleeve seams…like trying to peel an apple all in one long strip
Then pull and stretch the long strip as hard as you can to make the cloth curl
Roll it up into a ball
Whalah, you have a ball of ribbon or yarn…which ever you choose. It’s great for ribbon on gifts or knitting with BIG needles. You can braid it and make rugs, coasters, place mats, or just give it to your crafty friends and let them figure out what to do with it. Tie-dye shirts make a really great ball of variegated yarn. This is a fantastic craft for kids to do at a party or troupe meeting. And what a lesson on recycling, reusing, and repurposing stuff.
