The Picky Peasant is up and running!!!

    pickypeasanthomepage.jpg

For now, it’s just a simple site, but I have big plans. In a nutshell, I’m developing products that are made from recycled materials. My dream is to employ folks with disabilities to help fabricate these products. The process of recycling, reusing and recreating has so many possibilities for every skill level. I’m taking it slow…researching…lots of trial and error… The brick and mortar workshop is still a figment of my imagination, but I figure if I start here and think out loud (so to speak) it will lead me to the next step. In the next year or so, I hope to do a few summer art/craft fairs…so stay tuned. For the moment, I’ll be stealing away to my basement workshop in the wee hours of the night!

By the way, for those wanting to start a little venture on an extremely tight budget, here are my start-up expenses:

online store front: etsy.com .40…yes that’s forty cents!

business cards: overnightprints.com 100 cards for $14.95 plus tax and shipping = $27

    a simple one-image website: utopian.net = $65

    securing a domain name for 1 year: joker.com: $12

    web hosting for 1 year: utopian.net $110

Yea! Congrats on working this out. Are you collecting fabrics or other materials?
      What do you need?

      Hi Liita,

I’ve been meaning to write for some time, but congratulations! Wow, what great vision and the t-crawler looks awesome. I also love your idea in the future to employ people with disabilities, this is exactly the way I want Bulgarian people to try and start thinking, but I can tell I’m going to have to be persistent. There is1 school that has inclusion in all of Sofia. Dawn said she will bring 2 T-crawlers with her. I have to tell you, little Daniel is now crawling (1 knee, 1 foot) and I truly believe this will be a great help for him and will encourage Margarita (his
mom) as well, that people like you are thinking of these kids and wanting to help. The first ever registered (with the government-makes it a big deal) parents group of children with Down Syndrome is up and running here now. We had our first guest speaker 2 weeks ago (a speech therapist) and this week will have a behavioral therapist. It’s SO GOOD that God placed these women here as missionaries to reach out and help the Bulgarian people. I am happy and excited to serve these people.?

      Blessings and prayers to you,
      Julie
