Well… The T-crawler© is gobbling up my nights! But I’m having fun with it. I’ve put a few out there for a test ride with Nathan’s therapists and so far the response is very exciting. The “T” is for Therapy and T-shirt (these are made from recycled, disinfected T-shirts). And the whole point is to motivate kids with developmental disabilities to learn to crawl properly on all fours. Every time I get one out, Nathan can’t wait to get in. Miika and her friends beg to crawl through too, so it’s just fun for everybody. And I suppose it’s great that the older kids like it because they can model for the little ones. The colors and patterns are stimulating and I think the tube may help kids with autism too, in that it is a sensory challenge. Any volunteers?

The T-crawler is an easy light-weight tool for therapists to take on the road. Something I’ve noticed with all of Nathan’s therapists is that they have a very big, heavy load to carry to and from the car. This is a good alternative to the big crawling tubes with wires in them which are not practical for the roving therapist. It’s also easy to keep clean, just toss it in the washing machine. I’m hoping to get a few in the hands of some key people in the next few weeks…so we’ll see where this project leads.

Oh, and these will never be made in an overseas sweat shop, they are totally GREEN, re-created from all reclaimed materials…How cool is that?!

      Hi Liita,
Again, clicked on your blog and enjoyed every word and pictures. Great ideas you have!

Love seeing all of you, and you are so far away. Well, really not that far, but far enough.

Went into some of your ‘links’ and enjoyed seeing others too.

Keep up the great work, as you always do!

Glad you are getting some much needed sleep……..

Off now, as I’m almost ready for bed now……….and it’s not even 8:30 pm.
That’s retirement life, I guess. Sleep whenever we want……day or night.

      Hugs to all.
      Rose

      Liita,
I LOVE the T-crawler! It’s a hit wherever I take it. Therapists, parents, and of coarse kids, are drawn to it. My speech therapist surprised me with her enthusiasm about the many speech uses for it: action words (in, out, under, through, etc), peek-a-boo and other object permanence games, upper body strengthening, colors…. We also put it vertically and Margot had oodles of fun saying “up” and “down” as she pulled it over her head, strengthening her upper body at the same time! :)
