Home >> an altered book
March 12, 2008
2007 was the year of the patch for Miika, but her summer was not ruined by 6 hours of daily eye patching. We had lots of distractions. For a few weeks my neighborhood mom friends and I did “camp.” I was the book lady and read stories and the girls made books in the back yard. Above is an altered book that Miika made. It was an old tattered book before we got a hold of it, so there’s no guilt involved in “altering it.” Just an old price tag, some junky granny jewelry, and bits and bops from my endless collection of clippings. We used some old white house paint to white wash most of the cover, then used crayons, colored pencils, stickers and photos of the girls to stick on…topped off with a stamp about friendship….whalah. Inside are photos from “camp” so they will always remember their time together.

Love it, Liita! Now I am VERY excited about my class this weekend. Thanks for sharing.
