Home >> fixed, purged, placed, ahhh…

    January 7, 2008

Once a year Mary Engelbreit features artists’ studios. It’s my favorite issue because it’s a peek into the work world of successful artists and how their space inspires them. Well, for the past several months, my office has been a dumping ground for household debris. I used to have my drawing table in the living room because my office was too crowded, oozing paper and junk. Then we decided to fix what used to be a mangled closet that messed up the doorway to the back porch…anyway, long story short, my office is done! Over the past few days, I purged my junk, sanded the repaired walls and ceiling then painted. Four big garbage bags full of paper and stuff are out in the alley awaiting the trash-man. So, above is the result. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it clean for a while. It’s amazing how fast junk mail, art projects, books, catalogs, and things I “know” I’ll need some day take over. I’m determined to fight the war of the piles. Chaos is not inspiring and it’s hard to work in a messy space. I also feel good to have all my paints and bits out of the living room. Now to get some paying work done!!
