    January 1, 2008

    …there was a tree

but now it’s out the front door, the piles of needles are swept up, the ornaments are put away in boxes and stacked in the dining room, new gifts are scattered about and have not found a place yet, a fire crackles in the fireplace, a new batch of snow has fallen, a new year is underway and I refuse to make any resolutions. I have long term goals that I think about every day. Just because today is January 1 does not make my goals any different than yesterday:

To have as much fun with my kids as possible and still get the work done
To find spaces for all the stuff and get rid of excess
To teach my kids what they need to know for life
To live grace to the unlovable
    To give till it hurts
To push this business to the next level
    To invent something spectacular
    To create
To have enough to give in abundance
    To find simplicity
    To save

We did not go to a party last night and didn’t even stay up until midnight. I do that too much as it is and was too exhausted. So we celebrated by going to bed early and sleeping late. Happy New Year!
