Home >> pro (good) choice

It’s interesting to me that the “pro-choice” folks rarely mention LIFE as a choice. Since Nathan has come into our lives, we’ve met a few people who “chose” to have a child with a disability not because they discovered they were carrying a baby via pregnancy but by adopting them. My friend Monica sent me this story written by a friend of hers. Good Choices This couple adopted a beautiful baby girl named Emily, knowing there would be challenges ahead. It’s a great story of faith.
I often get very overwhelmed by all that must be done and find it paralysing and oppressive. I came across this quote today which seemed like just what I needed to hear:
“No pit is so deep where God is not deeper still.” —Corrie Ten Boom
Since my father passed away this spring, my husband and I have become more involved in the life of my mentally handicapped sister. Her childlike view of life is uplifting to us. While it is true that caring for a child with a disability can be draining, the output is often balanced by an input of joy. God is Good.
