I’m so excited to see 4 messages today. Hi Ann! Welcome!! Gretchen’s son also had/has some speach issues, but w/ a quality pre-school program, I think he has been doing great. She’ll have to give you details. My son is almost 22 months and only says a few words. BUT, he is signing like crazy. We’ve come at him from every direction: speach therapy, Signing Times DVDs & a book, constant chatter and use of signs in every day situations. He actually says, “dada” to my husband but rarely will say “mama” to address me. Now that Nathan is walking, he tends to say more when he’s exploring, rather than when I beg him to speak. For instance, he’ll do 5-6 signs one after the other if we’re walking down the sidewalk, but 1-2 for his speach therapist!

I have not found an actual babysitter either. Fortunately my mom is usually able to help out when I have meetings. Also, I have a few neighborhood moms who work at home too, so we swap hours. This summer we did “camp” and each of us took the kids for one morning a week, which gave us all a chunk of time to do whatever.
