Liita,
I love your site. It's such a great place for parents to share. I have forwarded the blog on to a variety of moms and asked them to foward it on as well.

I also love your logo for WinterTree Designs. It's a beautiful illustration.

I look forward to reading and learning more...

This is great! I'm looking forward to chatting and supporting. Thanks for getting this going, Liita!

I have 2 kids. Miles is 4 and Margot is 1. Miles has some sensory issues and Margot has Down syndrome. A LOT of therapy going on around here. I'm a Social Worker and I work from home 10 hrs/week on public policy, low-income advocacy. For some reason the 10 hours feels like 20!

So that's my story. Looking forward to our discussions.

I've not seen any blogs for wahms with special needs kids.

I am a freelance graphic designer, too. My daughter attends first grade. My son is 2 1/2 and is at home with me. He has CAS (Childhood Apraxia of Speech) and we see a speech pathologist. Currently he can only say "mommy." I have scaled back work so I can work with him each day. Since he cannot speak, he is behind developmentally and seems immature compared to others his age.

My biggest current challenge is finding a good sitter during the day so I can attend occasional meetings. It is also difficult sometimes to "let go" of my career, choosing to focus most of my energy on him each day.

I look forward to reading about other experiences.

Hi Liita!

My kids are older now (12 and 19) so I no longer struggle with some issues... but I definitely work from home and get the afternoon blues!!!! So, thank you for reaching out! I'll put you on my blogroll so I'll remember to check back frequently.

Here is a first comment for your blog! I hope a lot of us stay-at-homers get in on this discussion. It is so easy to close ourselves off from the world. This is a great idea!
